M1 updates as multi-vehicle crash shuts lanes

A multi-vehicle collision involving a lorry and four cars led to traffic being held on part of the M1 in Leicestershire[1] earlier this afternoon (Friday, October 18). Traffic information service Inrix reported that the crash had led to the closure of all four lanes following the incident close to East Midlands Airport. The collision occurred between Junction 23A (A42 for Derby/East Midlands Airport/Tamworth) and Junction 24 (A453 Ashby Road for Nottingham South/East Midlands Airport).

Multiple lanes were closed, with queueing traffic reported in the area.
