Lorry driver arrested after fatal crash in Bearsden

The incident, which is said to have involved an HGV and a female cyclist took place on Drymen Road at around 8.10am on March 19.  The 56-year-old cyclist, who was named as Una Brandreth from the Stafford area in England, was pronounced dead at the scene. The male lorry driver was not injured during the crash. Now, police have confirmed that a 61-year-old man, the HGV driver, has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences. He is expected to appear in court at a later date.

They previously said: “Una was a much-loved, sister, mother and daughter, and will be much missed by everyone who knew her.

“We are asking for privacy at what is a very difficult time for us all as we come to terms with our loss.

“We would like to say that we are massively grateful to all the emergency services that were involved in this tragic incident and to everybody else that stopped to help Una.”
