Lorry crash closes M11 in Cambridgeshire for eight hours

A lorry crash saw part of the M11[1] closed on Friday (October 11). Traffic[2] was diverted after the lorry crashed through the central reservation near Cambridge[3] shortly after midday. A National Highways spokesperson said: “Following a collision in which a lorry travelling north has crossed through the central reservation onto the southbound, the M11 is now closed in both directions within J11 (Cambridge). Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads with delays building.”

Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: “M11 Southbound closed, delays due to accident, a lorry crossing the central reservation involved at J11 A10[4] Cambridge Road (Cambridge South / Harston). Also slow northbound as onlookers slow to look. Within the junction.”

The route was fully reopened at 8.32pm.
