Foul smell as food waste lorry overturns

An overturned lorry carrying food waste has caused chaos for drivers in Devon and "absolutely stinks", according to witnesses. The lorry overturned on the Bolham roundabout at Tiverton[1] around 4am this morning, Tuesday, October 22. The lorry was carrying food waste before it overturned and shed its load[2].

Eyewitnesses have said the area is experiencing foul odours. One person told DevonLive: "This overturned in Tiverton and whatever it is it absolutely stinks. It's causing queues on A361 and all up Lea Road."

Emergency services were called to the scene and the driver of the lorry sustained minor injuries. It is not thought that any other vehicles were involved. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has said: "Police were called to reports of an overturned lorry that had shed its load of food waste on the A361 at Bolham roundabout, Tiverton, at around 4am today, Tuesday 22 October.
