Design unveiled for urban sports park under M74 motorway
Artists and skateboarders Toby Paterson and Raydale Dower led on designs of the park[1] to use the motorway canopy to protect skaters from the weather.
The pair teamed up with ramp builder and BMX rider John Bailey, who also designed Glasgow’s Loading Bay indoor skatepark.
GUS said the project would transform an underutilised “lost space” into a new type of public park and urban space for all.”
It said in a statement: “It is a creative re-imagining of the concept of public space.
“These designs push the concept forward at a scale not realised before in the UK with the inclusion of public art, active green space and urban sports landscape.
“This project, led by Glasgow’s skateboarders and BMX riders, will create a new thriving, accessible and active cultural landmark on the south side of Glasgow.”
