Arrest made after lorry crash on main route

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving[1] after a crash on Leicestershire’s A511. The incident saw the response of multiple emergency services, while the route itself was closed to traffic. Leicestershire Police[2] said it received a report at 8.30am on Monday (October 21) that a lorry had overturned into a field on the A511 at Sinope, near Coalville[3].

The lorry was left on its side following the incident, with thick black smoke seen filling the sky. READ MORE: Live updates after emergency services attend incident near Coalville[4] An air ambulance was called to the scene along with East Midlands Ambulance Service[5].

Three fire crews were also in attendance as well as multiple police cars. In a statement, police said no life-threatening injuries had been reported following the crash. It added that a 57-year-old man had been arrested on on suspicion of drink-driving.

The A511 remains closed between Hoo Ash Roundabout and Ashby[6] Roundabout as of midday on Monday.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
