Van driver in Royal Stoke after air ambulance sent to A500 crash
A van driver was taken to the Royal Stoke following a collision with a parked lorry on the A500 this morning (September 3). Paramedics worked with firefighters to release the man who was trapped in his vehicle as a result of the crash. The incident happened shortly before 10am on the eastbound carriageway between Audley and Talke.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene, although the van driver was eventually taken to hospital by road with "non-life threatening injuries". A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 9.50am to the A500 between Talke and Alsager in Stoke on Trent to reports of an RTC involving two vehicles. An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a BASICS doctor and paramedic on board attended the scene.
"The driver of a van, a man, was trapped following a collision with a parked lorry.
Ambulance staff worked with fire colleagues to release him from the vehicle and he received treatment on scene for non-life threatening injuries before being conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further care."
