Tragedy as man killed in city after collision with lorry

A pedestrian has died following a crash with a lorry in Birmingham[1]. The incident happened in Cotteridge yesterday afternoon. West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] was called to reports of a collision near the junction of Pershore Road and Watford Road at 4.41pm yesterday, Thursday, September 19.

It sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene. Despite the best efforts of medics, the man was declared dead at the scene. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. He was found to be in a critical condition and already receiving basic life support from an off-duty doctor. “Ambulance staff began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
