Strictly Come Dancing star issues update as Nick Knowles’ future on BBC show confirmed

Strictly Come Dancing’s own Nick Knowles is set to show off his moves on the dance floor this coming weekend. The It Takes Two host, Janette Manrara, brought this update to BBC[1] viewers on Thursday, announcing: “Earlier this week, Nick Knowles revealed he was injured while changing his car tyre and wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to dance on Saturday.” “We have an update that Nick has been back training with Luba and will be dancing the American Smooth this weekend!”

Cheekily adding a word of advice for the future, she said: “Yes, great news we can’t wait to see it. But, next time, Don’t change your tyre yourself Nick alright! Get some help.”

Opening up about his mishap earlier in the week, Nick shared some background to his injury, recounting his breakdown ordeal on the motorway, reports the Express[2]. With his arm in a sling, he recounted to the BBC presenter how the injury occurred, linking it to his birthday celebrations after his first live performance.

He said: “I went to get my 10-year-old son and bring him back to the party, but we broke down on the motorway with a flat tyre. “It was raining and there were big lorries going past, I tried to do it quickly and change the tyre quickly and as I took the tyre off I basically damaged my bicep.”

Janette questioned the professional dancer about the changes they planned to make for their upcoming performance due to Nick’s injury.

Luba, looking at his sling, then revealed with a smile: “First of all, we will sparkle this part (his sling). Then we still have a perfect position on our right arm. “We’re going to do perfect footwork, we might even do a lift on that arm.”

BBC audiences will witness the duo’s attempt to ascend the leaderboard this weekend after they achieved a score of 18 from the judges.

Yet leading the pack are JB Gill and Amy Dowden who notched up an impressive 31 in the first week. Hot on their heels are Tasha Ghouri and Sarah Hadland, having secured a commendable total of 30 for their performances.

Scores from week one will be added to what the judges award in week two, giving them a total combined score.
