M25 junction 28, Brentwood: Third crash in three days

M25 junction 28, just before Brook Street Roundabout, has seen three crashes in as many days, closing the motorway for several hours at a time. A man in his 60s and a woman have been take to hospital after the latest collision this morning (September 28), but “did not appear to have serious injuries”. Three vehicles were involved in the crash, which caused “severe delays” on the M25.

The “multiple vehicle” collision was first reported at around 8.30am, according to AA Maps, with teams from Essex Ambulance later called to the scene. An East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) spokesperson said: “Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended reports of a traffic incident this morning (September 28) on the M25 near junction 28. “Two patients – a man in his 60s and a woman – did not appear to have serious injuries and were taken to Basildon hospital for further assessment and care.”

Two out of three lanes were closed along M25 junction 28 anticlockwise, while the crash was cleared – and traffic backed up to junction 30. This follows another multiple vehicle collision near Brook Street Roundabout[2] on Thursday (September 26), involving three lorries and a van. Two people were also take to hospital after Thursday’s crash, with the M25 anticlockwise closed for more than four hours.

A second crash in the same spot on Friday (September 27) closed two lanes at M25 junction 28[3], but “no injuries were recorded”.
