M25 Dartford Crossing delays after serious crash on A2

There are delays this morning (September 13) on the Dartford Crossing in Essex following a serious crash across the border in Kent. The crash took place on the A2 Dartford eastbound involving at least one car and lorry, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix. There was queueing traffic after the crash on the road, with congestion from M25 J2 (Darenth Interchange, Dartford) to B255 Bean Lane (Bean Interchange, Bean).

Traffic is congested to Bexley heading coastbound and back to Cobham heading London bound. Also delays back along the M25 Clockwise to the QE2 Bridge. The vehicles involved in the accident have been moved to the hard shoulder following earlier recovery work.

All lanes have reopened and traffic has been released. Read more:Murder investigation launched as police block off busy Brentwood road after serious attack[1] Read more: The Essex area where GBP100k fund launched to help pensioners pay energy bills[2]

But drivers should be aware that residual delays remain.

And traffic is slower than normal on the opposite side, which could be due to people looking but there is also usual rush hour traffic.

It is not yet known if there has been any serious injuries from the crash, but there are expected to be delays on the roads for some time before the residual traffic congestion clears.
