Driver injured after M6 lorry crash between Nuneaton and Coventry

A car driver has been left injured after a crash with a lorry on the M6 between Nuneaton[1] and Coventry. Police and paramedics responded to 999 calls to report the collision between junctions 3 and 2 of the M6[2] Southbound near Aldermans Green in Coventry[3] at around 2.40pm earlier today (September 4). It led to all traffic being temporarily held before one lane was then closed.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed that medics treated the driver of the car, a woman, who has not been identified. She was then taken to the University Hospital Coverntry and Warwickshire[4] for treatment for minor injuries. The lorry driver was unhurt.

A WMAS spokesperson explained: "An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a car and a lorry had been involved in a collision. The driver of the car, a woman, was treated for minor injuries and conveyed to University Hospital Coverntry and Warwickshire[7] for further treatment." Police were called the accident scene but then National Highways took over.

The lane closure remained in place for more than an hour and this caused tailbacks to Corley Services.

There remains some congestion in the area and you can keep up to date with the latest on our liveblog here[8].
