BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Nick Knowles confirms show future following injury

Nick Knowles has confirmed his future on Strictly Come Dancing[1] after picking up an injury hours after performing live for the first time in the iconic ballroom. Nick was celebrating his 62nd birthday a day late on Sunday (September 22) after opening the first live show of the BBC[2] One dance contest on his actual birthday on Saturday night (September 21) alongside his dance partner Luba Mushtuk. But his belated birthday celebrations didn’t go to plan as after going to pick up his young son, the pair broke down at the side of a motorway.

Concerned for his and his son’s safety, Nick endeavoured to change the tyre as quickly as possible for both of their safety, however, he ended up picking up a niggle in his shoulder. The pain progressively got worse and Nick has since had scans to check the damage and is also being assessed in the training room by a physio to see if it will be possible for him to perform in week two of Strictly on Saturday night (September 28). Now, with not long to go until the live show, Nick has revealed he has been given the all-clear to perform.

In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday evening (September 26), the DIY SOS star said: “So just an update because, look how excited my dance partner is, because we have been given clearance to dance on Saturday. “It’s been an interesting couple of days, full of scans and physios and people helping me. Everyone’s been amazing, thank you for all of your messages of support.”

Nick and Luba previously said that they would be dancing the American Smooth to Parklife by Blur during week two of the competition, which will be followed by the first dance-off and elimination of Strictly 2024.

On Monday he told the BBC Two spin-off show It Takes Two that his injury is “painful”, but that he was “hopeful” of dancing again with Mushtuk after opening his Strictly journey with jive to We Built This City by Starship during the first live show.
