Traffic stopped on M1 after crash between junction 20 and junction 21

Drivers navigating the M1 face two-mile delays after a vehicle crashed into a barrier. Traffic has been stopped following a collision on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 20 and junction 21, Leicestershire. Traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M1 Northbound between J20 A4303 (Lutterworth) and J21 M69 (Leicester)."

Pictures from Highways England traffic cameras on Monday evening (August 5) show heavy congestion. It's not known at this stage how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was hurt. This is a live, breaking news incident.
