One arrested after person injured in A37 car and lorry crash

A person has been arrested following a crash on the A37 in the early hours of this morning (August 11). One person has also been taken to hospital. At around 3:10am, police were called to the scene of a crash on the A37 near Oakhill to reports of a crash involving a car and a lorry.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and closed the road in both directions. One person was found to be injured but their condition is not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. The driver of the car has been arrested after a positive breath test, which was carried out on the roadside.

The road was closed in both directions for around eight hours, which Avon and Somerset Police say was due to the recovery of the lorry. There was also a closure on nearby Old Frome Road. A spokesperson for the force said: "It came in at about 3:10am.

It's the A37 junction with the A367 at Oakhill and is a two-vehicle collision, with a lorry and a Peugeot car. "A man has gone to hospital, with injuries that are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. One person from the car has been arrested following a positive roadside breath test."

As of 11am, the A37 has reopened in both directions and traffic has returned to normal.

Inrix reports: "A37 Long Hill in both directions re-opened, traffic returned to normal, accident cleared from A367 Bath Road to Old Frome Road."
