Motorway to close for three weekends

A section of motorway through Leicestershire is set to shut for three weekends for "essential" roadworks.

The M69 will be closed southbound by National Highways from the M1 at Leicester to Junction 1 where the motorway crosses the A5 at Stretton Baskerville south of Hinckley.

The first weekend closure runs from Friday to Monday, with a second planned from Friday 30 August to Monday 2 September, and a further date in September yet to be confirmed.

While the carriageway is closed, resurfacing will be carried out, including sections of the hard shoulder.
