Motorcyclist dies after serious crash with lorry on A414 near Writtle

A motorbike rider has tragically died after a serious crash on the A414 which shut the road all day. A man has been arrested following the crash near Writtle on Tuesday (August 13) which saw the road completely shut near the junction with Hylands Park. Essex Police were called to the A414 near Hylands Park at around 8.20am on Tuesday following the incident involving a motorbike and a lorry.

The road was closed between the Three Mile Hill Junction and Margaretting Road whilst emergency services dealt and carried out enquiries. The motorcycle rider, a man in his 30s, sadly died at the scene despite the best efforts of the attending paramedics. Essex Police said they need witnesses to come forward with information to help piece together what happened at the time.

A spokesman said: “The lorry driver, a 52-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation whilst we continue to investigate. We know that a number of potential witnesses did not stop at the scene and we are appealing to these people specifically to come forward. “We are particularly interested in anyone with any dashcam footage to contact us.
