M11 disrupted as lorry fire is tackled by crews
The northbound section of a motorway has been closed following a fire involving a lorry carrying batteries, National Highways said.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said 30 crews were involved in putting out the fire on the M11 at Stumps Cross Interchange, near the Norwich A11 spur, at junction nine Newmarket and junction 10 Duxford.
National Highways said traffic southbound was being held back on the carriageway due to drifting smoke.
It said: “Due to the nature of the lorry’s load (batteries) it will take some time to bring this fire under control.”
