Live: M5 lanes closed by crash in Gloucestershire with tailbacks building

There is slow traffic on the M5 following a crash near Cheltenham this afternoon[1], Friday, August 30. According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, two lanes are closed on the northbound side of the motorway. We will keep you updated on the situation in the live blog below.

The crash took place between junction 10 for Cheltenham and junction 9 for Tewkesbury[2]. It was first reported at around 1pm and congestion is now building on the northbound carriageway. Inrix says: “Slow traffic and two lanes closed due to accident on M5 northbound from J10 A4019 (Cheltenham) to J9 A46 (Tewkesbury).”

There are also delays following a crash on the M5 in the Bristol area with delays due to a collision between junctions 17 and 18 which has closed one lane on the southbound side of the motorway.
