Live M11 traffic updates as vehicle fire closes motorway near Cambridge

A stretch of the M11 was closed near Cambridge on Saturday night (August 10) after a vehicle fire. National Highways confirmed the motorway was shut between Junctions 11 and 12 northbound. The incident was first reported at around 8.30pm.

Vehicles were understood to be trapped within the closure area while emergency services were at the scene. National Highways said in an initial update, posted on X at 9pm on Saturday: “The M11 in Cambridgeshire is closed northbound between J11 and J12 #Cambridge[1] due to a vehicle fire. More information to follow, thank you for your patience.”
