Lorry crashed into bridge in Falmouth causing major disruption

A lorry struck a bridge in Cornwall sparking major train delays this morning (Wednesday, August 21). There was slow traffic on Avenue Road in Falmouth and train services between Truro and Falmouth Docks were cancelled following the crash. National Rail warned passengers that there were no trains to Falmouth Docks following the crash.

Services between Falmouth Docks and Truro were cancelled or delayed. It said: "A vehicle striking a bridge at Falmouth Town means that the line is blocked. Trains running between Falmouth Docks and Truro will be cancelled or revised to start / terminate at Penryn."

Road and traffic monitoring site Inrix first reported the crash at 9.41am.

It said: "Reports of slow traffic due to bridge struck by vehicle on Avenue Road in both directions at Lansdowne Road."
