Investigation ongoing into lorry crash that snapped a level crossing

Police enquiries into a ‘dangerous driving’ incident where a lorry crashed into a level crossing causing hours of disruption – are still ongoing. At around 11.20am on Wednesday, August 14, a heavy goods vehicle crashed into a barrier at the railway crossing on Moreton Road in Woodsford. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and the road was temporarily closed between Lewell and Crossways to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Dorset Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made, but that enquiries are continuing. Following the incident[1], Police Constable Kier Dagnall, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “This incident caused the barrier to snap off, meaning the road was closed for a number of hours and trains were impacted. “I am appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area and saw what happened or has relevant dashcam footage to please get in touch.

“I would also like to speak to the driver of the lorry so I can take their account of what happened.”
