I visited Butlin’s and its epic new Skypark

As a child, the joy of playing “on the park” as the sun set was unparalleled. However, the arrival of darkness signalled the end of fun and it was time to head home. This is not the case at Butlin’s Minehead’s brand new Skypark.

This cutting-edge, multi-sensory play area illuminates the night with a spectrum of colours, creating an impressive spectacle for children who enjoy staying up late. The park also offers a plethora of fun during daylight hours, featuring towering climbing structures, winding tunnel slides (which are internally lit), swings, seesaws, and roundabouts.

An interactive, light-up running game is also available perfect for encouraging children to play together.

The GBP2.5million park spans six zones, each distinguished by colours representing different aspects of play surprise, excitement, joy, happiness, curiosity, and calm. Children can freely explore the balance beams, discover new games, or find a tranquil corner to enjoy 18 soothing sounds of nature, reports Wales Online[3].

The new drinks package at Butlin’s

Butlin’s has introduced a saucy twist for the grown-ups this year. For a mere GBP25 per day, adults can indulge in an all-inclusive drinks package and we’re not just talking about your standard beer and wine.

The offer extends to a variety of popular cocktails including mojitos, pina coladas, daiquiris, Moscow mules, and margaritas. Beer lovers can savour choices like Carling, Madri, Doom Bar, as well as bottled Peroni and a selection of ciders. Wine aficionados have the option of red or white wine, prosecco, or they can opt for branded spirits such as Gordon’s Gin, Archers, Bacardi, Jack Daniel’s, Southern Comfort, Smirnoff Red, and Malibu with mixers.

For the youngsters aged six to 14, the drinks package is priced at GBP10, and it’s complimentary for those under five.

The little ones can enjoy a range of branded soft drinks including Coca-Cola, Schweppes Lemonade, juices, and mocktails. My daughter, Charlotte, was thrilled to try out these enticingly named drinks pineapple dream, fruit drop, and strawberry burst each served with a paper cocktail umbrella, adding to her excitement! Imagine relaxing while watching The Masked Singer Live! show, sipping on one of these delightful beverages?

The other entertainment at Butlin’s this year

And speaking of entertainment, Butlin’s is bringing back The Masked Singer Live! show for another year.

The ITV sensation returns to the stage, and everyone is ready for some wild speculation and enthusiastic chanting of “Take it off! Take it off! Take it off! ” alongside over a thousand other eager fans.

An act on stage at ButlinsThere is no other holiday resort in the UK like Butlins

Those privy to the unmasking are bound by confidentiality, but I can reveal this: the celebrities at Minehead were absolutely sensational!

Another fantastic addition to Butlin’s extensive entertainment roster is Gandeys Circus. Housed in a traditional big top and presided over by a ringmaster and the hilarious Bippo the clown, for an additional GBP7.50pp you can marvel at the daring feats of high-flying trapeze artists and tightrope walkers, as well as a finale that will thrill any petrol head. Of course, there are also Butlin’s own incredible stage shows, most of which are performed at least twice during a long weekend stay.

Abba enthusiasts will adore Summer Night City, a glitter-infused, high-octane medley of hits. However, if you’re after that electrifying stadium vibe, make your way to Studio 36 for Festivals Rock. Showcasing rock and pop classics from various eras, every musical taste is catered for, from The Beatles to Harry Styles.

It’s a sure-fire hit with music fans, along with some superb tribute acts to Robbie Williams, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran, belting out hit after hit.

Water park, fairground rides and high ropes course

The shows are undoubtedly the main attraction at Butlin’s, complemented by Splashworld Waterpark, featuring slides, tubes, waves, a raft ride and a lazy river. But there are also numerous beloved attractions scattered around the resort. Who could resist unlimited fairground rides and the chance to hop straight back on your favourite when there’s barely any queue?

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Butlin’s high ropes course offers a thrilling aerial challenge with stunning sea views. Butlin’s “go-karts” are far from your typical leisurely circuit ride. Thrill-seekers can jump into real petrol racing cars, complete with accelerators and brakes, to navigate a specially designed track featuring speedy straights and challenging hairpin turns.

Will, my 14 year old son, had a blast competing on the race track against other drivers, with each ride costing GBP7.50. Opting for a Butlin’s All-Action Pass, starting at GBP20, not only gives you access to the race track but also includes ten-pin bowling, American pool, adventure golf (available at Skegness and Bognor Regis), and bungee trampoline sessions, potentially saving you up to GBP13 on these activities. The dining packages at Butlin’s enhance the holiday experience, offering all-you-can-eat breakfasts and buffet dinners complete with starters, mains, and desserts, priced at GBP23.95 for adults and GBP6.80 per child per day.

What sets Butlin’s apart is its uniqueness as a UK holiday resort.

Nowhere else can you find such a diverse range of activities, witness numerous high-quality stage shows, or choose from such a wide variety of accommodation options from budget-friendly ensuite rooms to apartments, hotels, caravans, and the newly introduced premium lodges at Butlin’s Skegness.
