Hunt for man ‘seen running from scene’ of crash on M5 motorway

Police have issued an appeal for information after a ‘man was seen running’ from the scene of a crash on a busy motorway. West Mercia Police urged witnesses to come forward after a man was hurt in the collision. Two cars, a Ford Fiesta and an MG car, collided between junctions 5 and 4A of the M5 northbound at around 7.50am this morning, August 8.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta was taken to hospital for his injuries, believed to be minor. The road was blocked off partially while emergency services dealt with the incident, but it later reopened. Hours later, police are now tracing a man allegedly spotted fleeing the scene.

He was described as white and is believed to be in his late 20s. He was said to be wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts.

In the appeal, West Mercia Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M5 this morning (8 August).

The collision occurred at around 7.50am on the northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 4A between a ford fiesta and an MG car. “A man was seen running from the scene. He is described as white, believed to be in his late twenties, wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts.

“The driver of the ford fiesta was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was partially blocked but later reopened.
