Cottage damaged by lorry crash to undergo emergency repairs

The property in Market Street, Shipdham, suffered extensive damage to its front during the collision in June.[1] The lorry was involved in a collision with a silver Toyota, before hitting Erwin Cottage. The accident left the road closed for several hours in order for structural engineers to secure the site.

Currently, emergency supports have been erected to support the property.

The owners have now submitted plans to Breckland Council to gain permission for the repairs. As it is a listed building, there are stricter rules on what changes can be made to the building.

The plans have already been given the support of a historic buildings consultant, who has told Breckland Council that the works are "clearly urgent" to ensure the preservation of the building.

Erwin Cottage is in a row of three cottages believed to have been built in the 16th century and subsequent renovations have been made in the 18th and 19th centuries.
