Two men killed in M62 crash as lorry driver arrested
Two men have died in a crash on the M62 today, police have confirmed. The serious collision happened at 5.30am this morning (July 11) between junction 8 and junction 7. The crash involved a car and two lorries.
The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours between junction 9 and junction 7 while emergency services worked at the scene. The motorway reopened this afternoon. Cheshire Police have now confirmed that two men who were passengers in the car were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Cheshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to help with their investigation.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “The driver of one of the two lorries, a 61-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
