Man fighting for life after tragic Coventry rail track incident
A man was fighting for his life after being hit by a train in Coventry. He suffered ‘lifechanging’ injuries in the incident this morning, Tuesday, July 16. Several emergency vehicles were seen close to Spencer Park at its entrance to the railway bridge.
Passers-by saw two fire engines, ambulances, police, and a Network Rail incident vehicle. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire critical care car attended the scene. It followed 999 calls about an ‘incident on the tracks’ near Warwick[1] Road at just before 9.30am.
“Upon arrival we found a man,” an ambulance service spokesperson said. “He was assessed and had sustained potentially life-threatening injuries “He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to University Hospital Coventry by land ambulance with continued treatment en-route.” A British Transport Police spokesperson added: “Officers were called to the line near Coventry[4] at around 9.18am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks. “Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.”
