Major M6 crash between car and lorries after driver ‘fell asleep’
A driver ‘fell asleep’ before a major crash that closed parts of M6. It happened on the northbound carriageway in the early hours of this morning (July 1) and led to lane closures. Central Motorway Police Group (CMPH) shared an image of the aftermath of the collision, which happened between junction 14 for Stafford North and junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent South at around at 3.49am, reports BirminghamLive.[1] It led to two lanes of traffic being closed.
A CMPG spokesman said: “There has been a road traffic collision between a car and a number of lorries. The driver stated they fell asleep.” The lanes closures remain in place.
Online traffic reporting site, Inrix, said: “Two lanes are closed and there is heavy traffic due to recovery work and an accident on the M6[3] northbound between junctions 14 and 15.
Lanes one and two are closed.”
