M62 three-lorry crash: Firefighters battle to rescue ‘trapped casualty’ near M6 junction

Fire crews are working to rescue a trapped casualty after a crash on the M62 involving three HGVs. Emergency services were called to the motorway between junctions 11 and 10 at around 11.15am this morning. North West Motorway Police have closed lanes one and two of the westbound carriageway while they deal with the incident.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters are working to rescue a casualty who is trapped in the wreckage. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area, the MEN reports[1]. The fire service posted online: “Firefighters are at the scene of a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the M62 J11-J10.

Lanes one and two are currently closed. Please avoid the area if possible.” In a further statement, the fire service added: “Fire crews have arrived at a road traffic collision involving three heavy goods vehicles.

One casualty is trapped and firefighters will be working to free this person as quickly as possible. “Lanes one and two are currently closed, delays expected, please avoid the area while we deal with the incident. Updates will be shared when available.”

National Highways has warned of four-mile queues leading up to the scene.

Delays of 20 minutes have also been reported.
