M6 live updates as lorry and two cars caught up in dramatic crash

Police closed the M6 after a lorry and two cars crashed – causing one vehicle to flip onto its roof. Cheshire Police were called to the incident at around 2.10pm this afternoon. At the scene, emergency services found one of the cars overturned and a number of pedestrians on the carriageway.

Paramedics are currently at the scene, along with air ambulance. Two out of four lanes remain closed and drivers are facing delays of up to an hour. A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At around 2.10pm on Monday 29 July, police were called to a collision on the M6 Southbound between junctions 18 and 17.

“Police attended and found there had been a collision involving two cars and a HGV. One of the cars had overturned and there were a number of pedestrian on the carriageway. “Lanes 2, 3 and 4 of the southbound carriageway have been closed, along with lanes 3 and 4 of the northbound carriageway.

Paramedics attended the scene along with the air ambulance. There are no details on injuries at this time.” On X, North West Motorway Police urged drivers to ‘be patient’ as queues build.
