Lorry driver on cocaine disqualified over M25 crash

Dashcam footage has been released of the moment a cocaine-fuelled lorry driver caused a seven-vehicle crash on the M25.

The footage shows a lorry hitting a car while changing lanes near St Albans, causing the car to spin into the path of oncoming traffic.

Alan Smith, 37, from Poynton, Stockport, was arrested 100 miles (160km) from the scene, where he tested positive for cocaine.

He admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving. He was given a two-year suspended prison sentence[1] and was banned from driving for three-and-a-half years by St Albans Crown Court.
