Live: M5 traffic stopped after vehicle flips
All traffic has been stopped on the M5 after a car flipped this afternoon (Sunday, July 28). According to National Highways, emergency services are at the scene of the crash heading northbound on the Avonmouth Bridge. There are now long delays on the motorway in both directions.
There is traffic heading southbound as motorists look over at the scene. National Highways said in a post on X: "Traffic is stopped on the #M5 in #Somerset northbound between J19 #Portishead and J18 #Avonmouth due to a collision involving an overturned vehicle. Emergency services are in attendance.
More information to follow, thank you for your patience." Inrix says: "Queueing traffic and two lanes closed due to accident on M5 Avonmouth Bridge Northbound between J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) and J18 (M49 interchange). Traffic is slow on the opposite side due to onlookers."
