Freeport East welcomes Colchester commercial development progress
On a visit to review progress at the new Centurion Park development positioned between Colchester and Harwich, Freeport East has welcomed the high quality accommodation options it will offer for businesses and the positive economic impact it will have on the area. Completion of the development is planned by the end of 2024 with the first businesses expected to take occupation shortly afterwards. Centurion Park, Colchester, is being built by Tungsten Properties with its construction partner McLaren Construction.
The 29 acre site is situated directly adjacent to the A120 and will comprise 11 high quality industrial and distribution units which will range in size from 11,000 – 70,500 sq ft. The site visit took place on 17 July 2024, where Freeport East CEO Steve Beel was joined by Dan Harness of Harwin Property Consultants. The visit enabled the Freeport East team to hear the latest update on progress with the development and to support ongoing marketing efforts.
Proximity to Harwich International Port has made the site a unique opportunity for businesses trading in and out of the port, as well as for the wider supply chain of companies which support the logistics and manufacturing sectors. The site will feature innovative sustainable elements which will include solar panels to achieve carbon neutrality. All units will achieve BREEAM Excellent rating and Net Zero Carbon in construction.

The visit followed Freeport East’s “Building Harwich’s Innovation Cluster” event which brought together over 80 local business and stakeholder representatives to discuss how to drive economic growth in the local area.
