A14 crash sees person hurt as lorry overturns after crash with car
Firefighters rescued an injured person on Saturday (July 13), after a crash between a car and a lorry on the A14[1] near Huntingdon[2]. Three fire crews attended the incident, which took place on the A14 westbound between junctions 16 and 17 at 1.30am. A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue[3] spokesperson said: “The collision occurred at around 1.30am on Saturday.
Crews from Huntingdon[4] and St Neots[5], along with a crew from Thrapston in Northamptonshire, attended the incident. “This was on the A14[6] westbound between junctions 17 and 16. Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving a lorry and a car, with the lorry on its side.
A casualty was rescued and left in the care of ambulance[7] crews. The crews returned to their stations by around 3am.”
The A14[10] was closed westbound between Ellington and Catworth[11] overnight on Saturday for the lorry to be recovered.
A National Highways[12] spokesperson reported at 10pm: “A14 in Cambridgeshire[13] is closed westbound between J20 Ellington and J16 Catworth for specialist recovery following an earlier collision.” In a statement at approximately 4am on Sunday (July 14), a spokesperson for National Highways said: “The A14 in Cambridgeshire[14] has re-opened westbound between J20 Ellington and J16 Catworth following completion of specialist recovery from an earlier collision. Thank you for your patience.
