Police soon find out why M60 driver sped off from crash on different motorway

A driver was arrested after being caught behind the wheel of a car with a missing tyre after a crash on the M66. Traffic officers at the North West Motorway Police said the car had been involved in a crash on the motorway. But the driver continued the travel along the M66 from junction two onto the M60[1] despite a tyre coming off.

Police said the driver ‘finally stopped’ for officers’ in lane one before a breath test was carried out on the scene. The driver reported blew a positive test – and was nearly three times the legal alcohol limit. The driver was arrestedThe driver was arrested

Pictures of the car with the missing tyre were posted on X, formerly known as Twitter[3], by the North West Motorway Police in the early hours of this morning (June 13). An officer wrote: “Police managed to get this vehicle stopped following it being involved in a collision on M66. It travelled from J2 M66 on to M60 with only 3 tyres on it.

Driver finally stopped in lane 1.

“Driver arrested for a positive breath test of nearly 3 times the drink drive limit.”
