Police soon find out why M60 driver sped off from crash on different motorway
A driver was arrested after being caught behind the wheel of a car with a missing tyre after a crash on the M66. Traffic officers at the North West Motorway Police said the car had been involved in a crash on the motorway. But the driver continued the travel along the M66 from junction two onto the M60[1] despite a tyre coming off.

They were arrested on the scene.
Pictures of the car with the missing tyre were posted on X, formerly known as Twitter[3], by the North West Motorway Police in the early hours of this morning (June 13). An officer wrote: “Police managed to get this vehicle stopped following it being involved in a collision on M66. It travelled from J2 M66 on to M60 with only 3 tyres on it.
Driver finally stopped in lane 1.
“Driver arrested for a positive breath test of nearly 3 times the drink drive limit.”
