M60 police ‘thankful not to be hurt’ in incident on motorway as driver prosecuted

A driver has been prosecuted after coming within metres of a police vehicle dealing with an incident on the M60[1]. Despite the police vehicle having all its rear lights illuminated, the driver failed to spot it until coming ‘within 15 metres’ of the patrol car, police said. Officers have said they are ‘thankful’ to have finished the shift uninjured after the incident on Sunday evening (June 16).

A picture has been shared in a post on X by officers from North West Motorway Police this morning (Monday) of the car coming dangerously close. The post by North West Motorway Police read: “This image from the rear camera of one of our patrols whilst dealing with an incident on the M60 earlier. “Our vehicle had all its rear lights illuminated yet this driver came within 15 metres before spotting it.

Driver prosecuted & officers thankful to end the shift uninjured!!
