Loose lorry wheel flies off and hits motorcyclist in Plymouth crash
A biker has been hit by a tyre after it came free from a lorry in Plymouth this morning, Thursday, June 20. Emergency services were called to Embankment Road around 9.30am following reports of a two-vehicle crash. A lorry lost a wheel while travelling on down the road, which hit a passing motorcyclist.
The ambulance service was also called to the scene following the collision. It is not thought the biker suffered serious injuries. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police[1] said: “Police were called to Embankment Road in Plymouth at around 9.30am on Thursday 20 June following reports of a collision involving a lorry and a motorcycle.
“It was reported that the lorry lost a wheel and the wheel then hit a passing motorcycle. The ambulance service also attended the scene. The motorcyclist is believed to have suffered minor injuries.
