Live Kent M2 traffic updates as crash closes lane near service station
One lane was closed on the M2 near Medway[1] this afternoon (June 25) following a crash involving a car and a lorry. The incident had taken place on the eastbound carriageway near the Medway Moto service station. Traffic and travel monitoring service Inrix first reported the collision at 12.59pm and stated that a car and a lorry were involved.
Following the crash one lane of two was closed on the eastbound carriageway between Junction 4 for Gillingham and Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Maidstone and Stockbury Roundabout. Despite the lane closure, traffic continued to flow well along the motorway. An early Inrix update stated: “One lane closed due to accident, a car and a lorry involved on M2 Eastbound near M2 (Medway Services).
Traffic is coping well. Between M2 J4 / A278 (Gillingham) and M2 J5 / A249 (Sittingbourne / Stockbury Roundabout).”
Highways officers were called to the scene and there were no reported injuries.
The collision was cleared and all lanes were re-opened shortly after 2pm.
