Live: Crash and heavy traffic on M5 sliproad

Traffic is now easing and there are no notable delays after a broken down vehicle caused a lane closure on the M5. The van broke down between junction 20 (Clevedon) and junction 19 (Portishead) late this morning (Saturday, June 15). The delays were caused by the removal of the vehicle and the whole M5 being held to remove the cones.

Traffic has since returned to normal. Two other incidents have also happened on slip roads connecting junction 19 to the motorway. An accident earlier this morning resulted in one of the two lanes on the southbound slip road being closed.

This afternoon, another vehicle broke down on the slip road exit to junction 19 heading northbound.

The vehicle has since been cleared.
