Female driver airlifted to Derriford after lorry crash
At 10.31am, emergency services were called to Cleers Hill near Whitemore following the collision. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene, with appliances from St Austell, Padstow and Bodmin in attendance. According to the police, a female driver had to be extracted from her vehicle and was then airlifted to Derriford Hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance.
It is believed she has sustained serious injuries. A road closure was put in place and as of 2.36pm remains closed. Traffic monitoring system Inrix says that the road is closed in both directions, and traffic is coping well.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were notified at around 10.30am on Thursday 27 June following reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry at Cleers Hill, near Whitemoor. “A road closure was put in place and the fire service also called. A driver was extracted from her vehicle and airlifted to Derriford Hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance having sustained what are believed to be serious injuries.”
Cornwall Fire and Rescue said that stabilising and crash rescue equipment was used to remove the driver from her car. A spokesperson said: “Appliances from St Austell, Padstow and Bodmin attended this incident. “The incident involved a collision with a car and a lorry, crews used stabilising equipment and crash rescue equipment to extricate the casualty from the vehicle.
“The female casualty was left in the care of the Air Ambulance.”
