M60: Motorway fully reopened after lorry fire halts traffic
Fire crews were called to the incident at around 2.50pm to the M60 anticlockwise between J11 and J10 after a lorry was reported to be on fire, halting traffic and causing four miles of congestion. Traffic was released and all lanes reopened at around 3.40pm, however there were still around 30 minutes of delays. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Shortly before 2.50pm today (Wednesday, 15 May), three fire engines from Broughton, Irlam and Gorton fire stations were called to attend a vehicle fire between junctions 11 and 12 on the M60.
"Crews arrived quickly and used two jets, one ultra high-pressure lance, one breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
"Firefighters made the area safe before departing after approximately two hours at the scene."
