BREAKING: Person dies after being 'hit by HGV'

A person has died after reportedly being hit by a heavy goods vehicle along Cromwell Road this afternoon, it is understood. A large cordon remains in place, with dignity screens erected at the scene, at the junction with Langley Road South. The M.E.N understands the person, whose age and gender have not been confirmed, was hit by the lorry at around 4pm.

Police, paramedics and fire crews have remained on the scene since with the road taped off in both directions. A private ambulance also arrived at the scene at around 7.30pm. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are currently leading the investigation.

Greater Manchester Police have not yet provided a full comment on the incident.
