LIVE: All traffic stopped on M58 near Wigan after major crash between car and lorry

All traffic has been stopped on the M58 near Wigan after a major crash between a car and a lorry. Emergency services are on the scene of the collision on the eastbound carriageway between J5 for Skelmersdale and the M6 for Wigan. Fire crews, police and paramedics remain on the scene this afternoon.

All traffic has been held temporarily as emergency services respond. The incident was first reported at around 4.45pm. There are currently delays of around 20 minutes.

Cheshire Police have been contacted for further information.
