Greater Manchester road CLOSED after girl ‘hit by lorry’
Police closed off a Greater Manchester road following reports of a serious collision. Moor Road in Orrell, Wigan, was closed in both directions this morning (May 13). The road was shut between Munro Avenue and Wentworth Gardens, according to Inrix.
It followed a collision involving a girl and a lorry, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. The girl was taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening. Officers were called out to the scene shortly before 8am.
Drivers were warned to expect delays on surrounding roads. The closure also affected the 665, 666, 667, 961, 962 and 963 bus services. A spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester posted on X (formerly Twitter): “We are sorry to report that due to a serious RTC on Moor Road in Orrell the road is closed, surrounding roads are heavily congested and services are expected to be delayed significantly, please allow extra time for journeys this morning.” The road reopened by midday.
