Edinburgh crash involving lorry at busy roundabout sparks traffic ‘chaos’
Chaos has been reported after a HGV was involved in a collision at a busy Edinburgh roundabout as police rushed to the scene. The huge lorry was involved in an accident at the Sheriffhall roundabout shortly after 12pm on Friday, May 10, with one driver describing the scenes as “chaotic” with motorists swerving in and out of lanes to avoid delays. Traffic Scotland also took to X to warn drivers of extended delays in the area following a collision, with live traffic images showing a police car parked behind the HGV blocking several lanes of the roundabout.
They posted: “NEW 12:17 #A720 – Sherifhall Roundabout, The Eastbound approach to the roundabout is seeing considerable delays due to a collision. Delays approx.
13 mins.” A driver who passed the scene just as police arrived told us: “I wondered why it was taking so long to get to Sheriffhall from Shawfair and then when I eventually got to the roundabout I saw the huge lorry not moving in the middle of it.

“When the lights went green cars were just swerving in and out of different lanes to avoid getting stuck behind it.
A police car just arrived as I passed but traffic was starting to get busier.”
