A1(M) incident: One lane remains closed after lorry fire

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between Leeming Bar and Catterick in North Yorkshire at about 5.30am this morning. The fire has been extinguished but one lane remains closed for retrieval of the lorry. North Yorkshire Fire have now left the scene and National Highways Yorkshire have updated at 8.30am to say there are now no significant delays.

The Northern Echo: North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Bedale, Northallerton and Richmond responded to a lorry on fire carrying non-hazardous materials, at around 5.30am. The service said there were no injuries and the incident is ongoing.

A spokesperson said crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.
