A ‘beauitful’ eight-year-old boy was killed in a car accident just four days after his mum died of cancer[2].

Harley Smith and his father died at the scene when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on a rural road near Trafalgar in Victoria’s south-east on Sunday at 5.20pm.

The driver of the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The boy’s mother, Amy Galea died four days earlier from stage four cancer, according to family friend April Damschke.

Ms Damschke launched a GoFundMe[3] to raise money for their funerals, with the double tragedy leaving their family ‘helpless’.

‘Amy Galea was diagnosed with stage four cancer at the age of 39, passing just four weeks later,’ Ms Damschke.

‘Amy lost her battle and gained her wings but just four days after Amy’s death her seven-year-old son, Harley, was tragically killed in a track versus car accident in Trafalgar.’

Daily Mail Australia approached Ms Damschke for comment.

Victoria Police said the two victims were yet to be formally identified and that they are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
