The North East’s biggest opportunities in the spotlight at huge UK event

The Combined Authority is promoting the Tees Valley – including Hartlepool and Middlesbrough Development Corporations, Darlington Economic Campus, the Teesside Freeport and Stockton’s upcoming Health and Innovation Zone – during the annual three-day UKREiiF event in Leeds. The huge real estate and infrastructure event sees public sector join Government, investors, funders, developers, housebuilders and more in a conference to help form new connections and relationships. It also shows off some of the huge redevelopment opportunities and projects taking shape across the country.

More than 6,000 attendees and 150 exhibitors are attending the 2024 event at the Leeds Royal Armouries next month, with economic growth through regeneration at its heart. SeAH Wind looking for hundreds of workers for Teesworks site[1] During the packed programme, visitors from around the world will hear of progress at Teesworks – the largest green industrial development opportunity in Western Europe – as well as progress on major transport projects such as Darlington Station and the two new Development Corporations now bedding in.

Representatives from Teesside’s Freeport are also primed to talk about tax and customs incentives for businesses and investors at the 4,500-acre Freeport covering a number of key sites across the region. The Tees Valley exhibition will take over a studio for its exhibit with senior officers from the Tees Valley’s local authorities set to attend alongside Combined Authority, Tees Valley Business Board, Teesside Airport and Teesworks leaders. Tees Valley Combined Authority Chief Executive Julie Gilhespie said: “As we dive into UKREiiF 2024, we’re truly shining a light on the amazing opportunities we have across the Tees Valley. “But this isn’t just about showing off what we can do – it’s about attracting investment, helping our region grow, and making sure everyone knows how great we are when it comes to our deep knowledge, the huge projects underway and our massive future potential on a national and global stage. “Together, we’re making sure our region is on the map for investors everywhere and proving we’re a strong and exciting place to be.”

Last year’s event saw Lord Michael Heseltine, author of the ground-breaking Tees Valley Opportunity Unlimited report, attend and tell visitors of the benefits and virtues of public-private partnerships. K2 Construction Management is also supporting the Tees Valley stand at the event. James Grant, Head of ESG, said: “We’re proud to be playing a key role in SeAH Wind’s huge new facility on Teesside bringing hundreds of well-paid jobs to local people.
