Own a home in ‘poshest village’ for cool £1.35m
Barston has been revealed as one of the ‘poshest places to live’ by The Telegraph It’s been named the poshest village in the Midlands – and you can live there too if you have a spare GBP1.35 million. A beautiful five bedroom house is on the market in Hob Lane at Barston, near Solihull.
The house has magnificent views over open countryside from all aspects, is set in a large garden with extensive driveway and is beautifully presented throughout. With one side of the garden bordering the River Blythe, this is a gorgeous setting. The detached house comes with an acre of land in a fantastic rural location.
The agents state, “Outside the 1 acre gardens extend to all sides of the property and offer uninterrupted views over open countryside being mainly lawned enclosed by hedgerows, mature trees and an orchard in the apex of the plot behind the outbuildings.” Barston was recently named one of the 48 ‘poshest villages’ in Britain and the only one in the West Midlands[1]. The average house price is GBP615,549.
The ‘Posh Appeal’ stems from its good transport links with Birmingham Airport and Birmingham International railway station, while an HS2 station will also be built nearby. There is also good access to the M42 and M6 motorways and the NEC yet there is a rural feel bordered by the River Blythe. The ford up the road with the little foot bridge for pedestrians is idyllic.
The two pubs are also lovely with a massive revamp of the Bulls Head after covid turning the once locals’ pub into a lovely dining experience with great outdoor seating opposite the church of St Wiithin’s dating back to 1721.
The Malt Shovel down the road is another great pub to visit with cosy feel and great garden.
Solihull and Knowle are both nearby.
