M65: Crash causes fuel spillage at Junction 14 in Colne

Lancashire Police officers dealt with a crash on the M65 eastbound at Junction 14 in Colne, closing the eastbound motorway at junction 13. Drivers were told to plan their route accordingly to avoid the fuel spillage in the area. The incident occurred around 3.40pm with traffic also queuing at junction 13 A682 Scotland Road in Nelson to junction 14 at the Boundary Mill Roundabout.

There was also congestion before junction 12 at Brierfield. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Good afternoon, officers are dealing with a road traffic collision M65 Eastbound at Junction 14 in Colne. “Due to a fuel spillage officers have closed the eastbound motorway at Junction 13.

“Please plan your route accordingly to avoid the area.”

Delays of up to 20 minutes and congestion built up to Junction 10 of the M65 for Burnley[1] and Padiham, as well as heavy traffic through Nelson.

Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
